Optimum Condition for Cowpeas to Growth:


· Categorized as prostrate (trailing) or climbing.


· Have strong taproot

· Warm-season, annual and herbaceous legume.

· Soil pH is in the range of 5.5 to 6.5.

· Adapted to a wide range of soils from sands to heavy, well-drained  soil, with a preference for lighter soils that allow good rooting.

· Does not tolerate extended flooding or salinity.

· Optimum temperature is between 25-35°C.

· Adapt to moderate shade.

· Moderately tolerant of drought

· Excessive soil moisture is harmful which lead to infection by fungal diseases and reducing the growth.
